HOW CAN FTAAAD'S EVIDENCE-BASED WELLNESS CLASSES HELP ME?
To live a healthy life with an ongoing health condition means working at overcoming the physical and emotional problems caused by the disease. FTAAAD's evidence-based workshops will help you live a healthier life. They help participants to:

Talk effectively with family, friends and health professionals

This suite of workshops will give you tips and ideas to make your life easier. Originally designed by Stanford University, they are offered at hundreds of locations throughout the United States, as well as in other countries around the world. They have helped people feel better about themselves and their problems. Because of these workshops, people gain more physical capabilities and pleasure from life. These workshops will help you:

The Health Aging workshops are fun workshops with a lot of activities to do in groups. You will learn:

How to communicate with others

How to use medications correctly

How to manage depression

The group-based workshops are conducted in two-and-a-half hour sessions, once a week for six weeks, in community settings such as senior centers, churches, health resource centers and senior housing. Workshops are facilitated by two trained peer leaders, one or both of whom have at least one chronic disease themselves.

HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?
There is no charge to participants for Living Well with Chronic Conditions, Take Charge of Your Diabetes, Cancer: Thriving & Surviving, and Powerful Tools for Caregiving workshops. Some other evidence-based wellness programs offered through senior centers, such as T'ai Chi and arthritis prevention, have charges set by the individual centers.
